Home Truths

This version of “Summertime” was sung live in 2004 when I was in a band called Spherics. I was living in the UK at the time, and had just finished studying at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford. It was during a time when I was really trying to find my feet and find myself! So for me, this is not about the meaning of the song, but the meaning around what was happening in my life during this time.

Figuring out who we are and what we want out of life can be challenging at any point of our lives. But eventually, it catches up with us and we’re forced to admit the truth.

I’ve learned some of these lessons the hard way.

Hopefully these lessons will serve you well, too:

1. Accept yourself no matter what and above all else.

2. Perfect is not real – it does not exist.

3. Use everyone else as a mirror.

4. Connect to your core.

Love, Shylo
